Abstract
Insecticides play a crucial role in modern agriculture and public
health by controlling insect pests that threaten crop productivity and transmit
vector-borne diseases. Ensuring the quality, safety, efficacy, and
environmental compatibility of insecticide products requires comprehensive
quality control testing and strict adherence to national and international
regulatory guidelines. This review provides an overview of the major quality
control procedures employed during insecticide manufacturing, including raw
material evaluation, in-process quality control, finished product testing,
physicochemical characterization, active ingredient analysis, stability
studies, residue determination, and environmental safety assessment. It also
highlights the importance of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good
Laboratory Practices (GLP), and internationally recognized standards
established by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Health
Organization (WHO), Codex Alimentarius Commission, International Organization
for Standardization (ISO), and other regulatory agencies. Furthermore, the
review discusses documentation, traceability, personal safety measures, and
environmental management practices that contribute to consistent product
quality and regulatory compliance. Adherence to these quality control measures
enhances product reliability, protects human and environmental health,
facilitates international trade, and supports sustainable pest management and
responsible insecticide use.
